New iMacs referenced in Big Sur 11.3 Beta
Now, I hate to be smug about it but haven’t I been saying for a while that new iMacs were just around the corner? In the latest macOS Big Sur 11.3 beta that landed yesterday, two new iMac models…

  1. I use the Apple remote every day, and have added a slim silicone sleeve w/lanyard, (Amazon) thus having not problem with dropping/slipping from my hand, and with the lanyard attached, you always know which end is up. If they can improve it, great! but as it is now, I'm more than happy.

  2. They would have to update the mouse. You cannot continue have the charging port on the bottom like that.
Yes, use the Apple remote, never use the iPhone app. Also, the volume control can be used for other HDMI inputs without switching back to the AppleTV input. I use this feature alot because the Apple remote sits flat on the sofa armrest, very convenient for me. (The remote would not do this before, Apple changed its functionality a year or 2 ago. Only the top left button on the remote auto switches the HDMI input to the Apple TV.)

  3. As far as the Apple Remote goes… yes, we use it and kinda like it, at least when it can be found. For the Apple Remote app, try using the volume buttons on your phone/other device when you're in the app to control the volume of the Apple TV.

  4. Nice to see you quoting from iRepair. I work there!!! Funnily enough I'm about to embark on all the Apple technical training stuff through their partner program.

  5. Spring is when Apple sells computers to the Education Market. That is the biggest and most important market for iMac computers. While Apple may release an iMac with larger M series processors, they will most likely simply be copies of the existing M1 architecture with more memory expansion and possibly more CPU and Graphics cores. Either would of course boost performance, but is not the stuff of a generation shift which would justify release at WWDC and shipping pre-release prototypes to developers. Theoretically, the larger enclosure could also accommodate a slightly faster clock speed compared to the laptop version. Spring is also a fairly good time to release fundamentally new products.

  6. 😆 haha, Yes Dave I do actually use the Slippery little remote with my Apple 🍏 Tv 4K
It’s much better now since I went on eBay and purchased a nice little rubber slipcover thingy, costs around $4 and it fits snuggly around it nicely.. think the vendor has them in different colors and makes a similar case for the 🍏 TV4K too.. I just got the black one, it makes a huge difference..

I tried using my phone as the remote and I find I prefer to park my iPhone 📲 on the charging doc whenever Im watching 🍏 TV anyway .. I think if the M1/ A14X chip goes in the next iPad Pro, I’ll buy that next and wait until Fall or Winter for another round of desktops.. Having just gotten a M1 mini, I’ll be happy with that once I get it accessorized with monitor and what not..

  7. I want a 32 inch iMac and a 24 is ok but take the 21 inch size and create the iPad Pro max. A hybrid tablet/desktop. Designed with the road warrior in mind. Mound the handles/kickstand into the back on all four sides with a video projector built in. I am confident it would be the most versatile piece of equipment on the planet.

  8. Your channel is just great and entertaining. Thank you for what you do 🙂 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  9. I use the stupid remote, the iPhone is worse imo, but I've used my TV remote & my Receiver remote a lot, as navigating the UI with actual physical buttons, is way easier

  10. I own an Apple TV 4K and love the slim apple tv remote. It’s the only remote I have as I watch live tv via the Channels app. Everything we watch is via the Apple TV. The SONY SMART tv it’s connected to has Android TV and that’s pants.

  11. Yes, I actually use the ATV remote, and I've frankly never understood the hate. It's better than just "okay" or "fine". The only thing I wish it had was an ability to be discovered by the Find My app. Even so, you can get a little magnetised case with a rope around it that makes it nearly impossible to lose. From time to time, I will control the ATV with my watch or phone — out of sheer laziness — but I much prefer the remote itself.

  12. I use the remote all the time as you can control the tv through HDMI. It’s a fiddly remote to use but it just takes some getting used to. Plus it’s rechargeable.

  13. Even with the Apple TV case for my remote I keep misplacing that sucker all the time. The only way I use the Apple TV is with either my Apple Watch, iPhone, or if I want to be like Flossy Carter the iPad as the remote. However, I’ll probably go and buy a third party Apple TV remote. #notificationsquad
