Apple just launched the iPhone 12 and Google the Pixel 5. While the $829 iPhone 12 is more expensive, on paper both phones have a similar setup in terms of cameras. Each phone has a main wide-angle camera, an ultrawide-angle camera and a wide selfie camera. We took both phones out and took dozens of photos and videos to see how…

  1. I’m impressed, for the most part I think the iPhone 12 did a better job. Saw another comparison that was between the iPhone 11 and the Pixel 5 and still preferred the iPhone. The only time the 11 fell behind was in the lack of a night mode on the ultra wide, but considering the narrower aperture I’m not really sure it would be amazing and wouldn’t use it much to begin with.

Also really not a fan of the blue iPhone 12, but love the look of the green Pixel!

  2. Oomph to the dynamic range? It's just contrast, something easily adjusted when editing a picture…. Actually it seems that the Pixel has better protected the shadows, as we can see in the entrance of the building with the right door and the plant if front, but even this isn't dynamic range (just HDR and computational photography). As for the other, I can see a weird halo around the building on the iPhone picture, especially on the left side.

The truth is that it strangely seems that Google has tried to make its camera more iPhone-like, adding more saturation than in previous phones or softwares, and on the opposite, the iPhones seems to have gotten some more natural colours (less saturation for the skies or green stuff) and less complexion smoothering for portraits.

  3. Also….you can tell that this guy has put waaaaaaay more effort into the shots for the iPhone 😂😂😂😂 Never take advice from an Apple fan boy

  4. The iPhone photos always look way too over sharpened. Very processed across all of those photos. Wow, I wasn't expecting that…the Pixel is the clear winner here isn't it

  5. The Pixel phone needs to do more with software than the iPhone. The iPhone 12 has a more upgraded hardware as well as software. The Pixel 5 actually down graded with hardware by not even including a dedicated photo sensor and also a slower processor. I believe that the iPhone takes better pictures over all and also once you are finished with taking those pictures you will be able to do more with them on the iPhone and this will also be like a hot knife through butter where as on the Pixel 5 it will be more like a cold knife through butter. Don't forget Google will be watching you on this phone so be careful. Your information is not as important to Google since you are the product. Apple sells amazing products and does not sell you.

  6. Pixel FTW ..not liking the boosted fake colors of the iphone… Your the only review I've seen were the iphone was true to life every other camera comparison I've seen which has been several the Pixel nails the actual colors
