The iPhone 3G came out in 2008 and was the perfect next step for Apple- but even so, there’s a reason no one remembers it. How does it hold up 12 years later?

  1. I garbage picked this phone from an old coat at a time when the iPhone 4 had long since been released. I was excited, it was my first smartphone. I took the SIM out of my flip phone, put it in the iPhone, and promptly got rid of the flip phone. A decision I ended up regretting, because not long after I ended up despising the thing. It was unbearably slow and restrictive, constantly crashed from running out of memory. Wasn't even as reliable a telephone as my flip phone. But, I had nothing else, so I ended up using it for years. At least I got some entertainment and knowledge out of jailbreaking it and mucking about with the software. Then I got a ZTE Maven, a cheap prepaid phone, and it was so superior in every way that I've never looked back.

  2. I have a small apple collection here are what I own

    iPhone 3G
    iPhone 3GS
    iPhone 4
    iPhone 4s
    iPhone 5
    iPad 1
    iPad 2
    iPod 2nd gen
    iPod 4th gen
    iPhone 8 (my daily driver)

  3. How to tell if you have a 3G or 3GS
    turn to the back
Check the storage label and “iPhone” if it’s chrome it’s a 3GS
    if it’s grey it’s a 3G
    Hope this helps

  4. My first ever iPhone. It was cute but slow af and I couldn’t send or receive photos via text 🤦🏻‍♀️ that was a looong time ago. I’m currently watching this on my iPhone 12 Pro Max 😂

  5. This was my first iPhone and I still have it today. Unfortunately it has a cracked screen and portly cracked on the front speaker but none the less I still have it. I also have iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 Plus s and now I use iPhone 11 and I have iPod touch 7 gen

  6. Okay so you clearly don't know much about Android! Android basically uses custom version of the os for isp that gets 2-4 updates that are similar to Windows service packs. Google markets Android to the same people that Microsoft targets with Windows… Business enterprise. Microsoft has taken Android under its wing to help Google create a longer term version if Android that can receive major frame work updates without being installed from scratch. Apple could not be more alien to the concept of Windows or Android because apple is built of entertainment. The cognitive workings of apple operating system can be replaced with little consequence because all apple has to do is entertain it's user.

  7. I loved this iPhone and it was my first one before I switched to the iPhone 5s & iPhone 6.

And for the record, you actually messed up on something. The video recording capability. Technically it can shoot videos without having to jailbreak. There’s an app called iVideoCamera and while yes, it is pretty bad but still, there was a nonjailbreak option.

  8. I remember back in the days of when the iPhone 3G was around, these phones were very fun to play around with and use. I wanted one of these so bad in white. Very revolutionary for its time, you will soon find yourself appreciating it for not only the phone itself, but for its shape — especially the chrome bezel.
