Price is the problem. Where i live, the iPhone 12 is always on offer for at lower price than the Mini. Makes the mini seem like a very bad deal.
12mini is good but I am a battery guy so I need more juice…I have ip11 and I need even bigger battery I think iPhone 13mini will be not for me but I like the phone size
I have the 12 Mini and luv it, but I agree for most people it makes more since to pay 100 more to get the regular size 12 or the much cheaper but still good SE. The 12 Mini is simply caught between a rock and a hard place
I think they should also make models that are in between, for example iphone 13 max or iphone 13 pro mini

I’m using 12 mini for over 2 months and so happy to have a small smartphone. Today I return for couple of minutes to Android 6.4” screen and I realize why I want to quit from this concept. If 13 will be in mini version I’ll buy it for sure and if Apple kill this small form factory project I’ll have up to 5 years to updates.

My iPhone mini has had terrific battery life overall. Aside from a couple days of seriously heavy use, I've been able to get through an entire day with plenty of juice left in the tank. I don't even worry about it anymore.
I think my favorite thing about the mini is that it's finally an iPhone-sized iPhone. Like it or not, the design and functionality of iOS still looks best on smaller devices. Compare a phone like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and Apple's interface looks hilariously oversized as soon as you start playing with it. Hopefully Apple will eventually allow users to change the default app grid and provide more scaling options. Until then, I think the mini and SE do the best job of having the right proportions.

I wanted 12 mini so badly but I just can’t get over the notch. I went with se from an iPhone 8. I may consider the 13 mini since the notch could be shrinking finally. I do not like big phones and want to grab what could perhaps be the last of its kind. I hope September goes well.

WRONG, WRONG,WRONG,,,,, the reason the Mini didn’t sell that well is mainly because of the main reason you didn’t mention.
The Mini was hobbled with not having the same features or camera as the Pro 12 versions, sorry but it’s just that simple.

I love the mini. I think they need to make a bigger capacity storage. The storage is the same as the SE. So what is the point of the mini.
I was hoping the storage would be bigger 512gb.
Most people don’t buy a phone for camera, so a better camera isn’t helping but storage is a factor and the size hasn’t changed since 2015/2016.
If the SE has a hole punch display the mini will suffer further.
People like big phones. I have no reason why as they aren’t practical. Too big to put in a pocket but I guess people think bigger is always better.
