It’s the training course that follows on from the report I sent a couple of days ago. Inside the course Jules, the creator, goes into everything you need to know for creating some of the BEST video’s you’ll ever see online… using just your iPhone, some cool apps and a few bits of inexpensive gear.

I’ve already gone through the course, and it’s BY FAR…

  1. Don't get rid of your professional video gear just yet!, Smart phones are ok in a pinch to catch some footage or if you do not have your DSLR or other Video gear with you. Remember the effects of having a small senor size in all cell phones compared to DSLR's, the white back ground in this video looks fine but blowing out a histogram at the top end To get the white background is just a matter of casting enough light at the screen or wall has nothing to do with the photographic device you are using. The background can look good on any recording device, however look again at your foreground quality, you or your subject's image quality can not compare to the results of the larger sensor cameras, just compare this video with your previous video on white backgrounds that you shot with your 60D, also the small fixed lens of a smart phone distorts the image, especially facial features that can be compensated for with a medium telephoto (portrait) lens on a DSLR!

  2. I'm an Android guy, personally. However, whether you're using an iPhone or a high-end Android, such as a Samsung Galaxy S4 or higher, the principles are the same. The thing that you didn't mention in the video, which I think is key, is the lighting. To get an even background, you need to invest in some good quality lights. I'm a fan of using green screen for my own videos. However, I really struggled to get an even layer of green that I could cut out until I invested in some decent lighting.

  3. How did he get the resolution from the iPhone to be so good. It is probably an iPhone 4/4s and I know I didn't get that good video quality on my old iPhone 4s

  4. Is there a reason you can't or shouldn't record the video from the other side of the phone? Like when you take a selfie? (And what happened to the "later I'll talk about using a smartphone"?) Thanks.

  5. Just subscribed your channel. Watching your setup in in this video make me think maybe I can set up something like this in my brother's room (he's out to college), which is not big. But I'd like to know how many watts of fluorescent lights I'll need to make online videos, say a white background like in this video? You had one pair to light the subject and one pair to light the white background (btw, is that just a white wall?); how many watts are each? I plan to shop online but don't know how many watts I need?

And did you use green screen before? I tried using an editing freeware called videopad, shot with my Sony Android phone in front a green background, but the green screen effect came out terribly. I don't know if it's the phone camera issue, not enough light, or the editing software issue? Does Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD work well on green screen effect? Thank you. Sorry I ask too many questions. -:)

  6. Gideon you videos are great. I am just getting started in the video creating world. I just subscribed to your youtube channel. I have a few questions you mentioned. would the Galaxy S5 perform as well as the iphone in creating high quality video and is screenflow still the best for editing?
