In this Snapseed video, lot of masking work with Curves was used to give a dramatic effect. Selective filters were used to pop parts of the image selectively, also to make the shadows soft.

This is a great example of how to use the Curves and Selective tools to give an image a fancy, fairyland appearance. This combination of tools may work best on images that already have elements of make-believe such as an unpaved road, a carriage, a brook, and little children and animals (rabbits, donkeys, …).
