How to change the pitch in GarageBand iOS (iPhone/iPad)

How do you change the pitch of a sound you import in GarageBand iPhone or GarageBand iPad?

In this video, I show you the very cool NewPitch AUv3 plugin from Apple which can help you adjust the pitch of your audio on any track up to two octaves higher or lower.

  4. Hi Pete, it doesn't seem like the most functional/useful plug-in. It doesn't really live up to it's billing – is that fair?
I get a good outcome if I use the Audiostretch app to change the pitch (or/and the tempo if I wish) outside of Garageband. Then I bring the modified version into Garageband.
I find this particularly useful when making covers of songs, so that I can play or sing along with the original shifted to a key that suits me. Then I delete that track from my final mix. I've never tried it with a piece of audio that I then leave in my own version.

  5. Apparently much early music from Jamaica that featured horns always seemed ‘out of tune’ to European ears, but it was always consistently a little out, because it used an older pitch standard called ‘country’ (ie from the rural parishes) tuning. Now we can get that added authenticity for free from Apple ——— thanks to its inability to dial in 100 cent increments : Bonus !
