It didn't work for me. Everytime I turn voice over on in general settings, it automatically turns itself off. Can't get it to work.

On the iPad this feature read both the punctuation and the text. Do you know any way around that because Apple does not.
Isn't there a Text-to-Speach app. The voice of these voice over is annoying to listen to when reading a book.

I tried and the Kindle Reader app on my Iphone 5S said "Voice Over Does Not Support this Content" (my Kindle book).
Thanks for clearing this up. I signed up for Kindle Unlimited and since some books either didn't have narration or they stated there was additional charge for it (not what is stated in the subscription) I became confused as to how to access audio. I went on Amazon chat for help &was transferred FOUR times. None of the reps knew what they were talking about and 45 minutes later still had wrong answers. Next day I called Kindles supervisor… she didn't know and had to research it. Another 1/2 hour of my life wasted. (What?) Then she emailed only portion of the info. Finally I gave up and Googled the info which I should have done in the first place. I don't understand why companies that sell on websites or sell tech stuff don't put clear instructions or at the very least make it easy to find the info.
Excellent. Thanks for the tip. For some reason my Kindle Fire HD stutters when it reads aloud so this is a viable alternative on my iPhone 5. I knew about the triple click for VoiceOver, but was unaware of the double swipe to read continuously. Thanks again.
Triple-clicking doesn't seem to work on iPhone 4 for toggling the voiceover on and off.
Oh dear, I just tried this and it has locked my phone. I am in Romania so I don't have my macbook to use iTunes. I will have to reset it and lose everything for now. I have the 5c. If you have a newer version of phone, don't try this.

On my iPhone 4, I am able to switch to voice over on; however, I can't leave that page until it turns off, and triple-clicking on the home button doesn't start voiceover.
What is the earliest iOS does this work with?
Just tried this on the latest iOS, as of today April 23, 2014, and it works fine. The only issue is it stops reading when you lock the phone so you need to leave the screen on. I imagine this is going to murder my battery but, again, it does work.
