My iPhone power button randomly stopped working in January of this year after it fell off my nightstand. I relied on AssistiveTouch for several months until one day it randomly it started working again. Now it's happened again. According to a tip I found, the power button will still work if you squeeze the sides of the phone really hard while pressing it. Not only that, but after doing it a few times, the power button is completely back to normal! So when this happens, try squeezing!

With an older iPhone SE here. Maybe you can try letting your phone completely die out of battery power for a couple of hours to then plugging it in for charge and starting up again. I say this cause I had been using the on screen power button as advised in this video for two weeks (it was a great big help). However, one night I accidentally let my phone battery completely die out on me. The next morning I lifted the phone and it didn’t react so I tried the power button and it was working again, showing my battery was dead and needs to be plugged in. After plugging the phone into a wall source to charge, the phone power button started working and here I am posting a comment 🙂 Since then, the top power button has continued to work. I know this is an old phone to be dealing with but hopefully expressing this experience helps.
