Otterbox defender pro vs defender XT with MagSafe wireless charging for iPhone 12 pro max

So a few weeks ago I did a video where I was trying to use Apple‘s new MagSafe charger with a defender Pro. It didn’t really work out well and otterbox contacted me and sent me this defender XT model. If you watch the video you’ll see why I don’t particularly care for the OtterBox defender XT model.

Testing out if the new Apple iphone 12 magsafe wireless charger will work with the otterbox defender. We are using the new 20W usbc wall charger and the new magnetic wireless…

  1. This case is a lot like the pursuit case which I loved on my iPhone 10 it’s a better case in my opinion. I would choose the XT because the plastic is gonna be more durable and it will be easier to get in and out of your pocket than the rubber case. All my table are level so not so worried about the sliding 😂

  2. There are some wireless Qi chargers that still charge through the regular Defender. My old Samsung wireless charger from 2016 charges it through the Defender case just fine.

  3. Used to love otter box,but got the speck precisdio grip 2 and WOW game changer. More bulk isn’t always a good thing. All otterbox cases are either bulky as hell or slippery as hell lol.

  4. I looked at that case at Best Buy a few weeks ago and I would definitely choose the xt over the defender just because of MagSafe!! I recently got the belkin 3in1 MagSafe charger and I love it so definitely trying to keep all cases that support MagSafe lol

  5. Thanks for this review. You saved me $70. Otterbox fuucked up this Defender XT for sure. Junk indeed. I wonder if you can mod the standard Defender Pro by installing that mag safe inside the case?

  6. This is a rebranding of the Pursuit case, but added the ability to use a belt clip you can get extra. There is 4 different Defender models; Defender, Defender Pro, Defender XT, Defender Pro XT.

Been using Otterbox since getting the iPhone 3G.

  7. From the very beginning it was obvious that this was going to be a negative review. Personally, I'm more than willing to give it a try. I used the Defender for years but want to use the wireless charging.
I have noticed that, just like screen repairs being offered everywhere, so are the plug replacements. Even battery stores are jumping in. Obviously a problem with their daily usage.
Otterbox has an excellent reputation and don't think they risk it with a substandard product.

  8. Couple things. First, did you cut the charging port flap off your defender pro? And second, does the XT come with a lanyard or just a spot to attach one? Please and thank you.

  9. The XT is much like my otterbox pursuit case. The plastic is more durable I think in the long run. I’ve been using defender case since iPhone 4 days. The problem I have with rubber is that it gets loose eventually so the fitting is no longer the same as day 1. What I don’t like with the plastic back is that it has no grip at all.
