Screen Recording in iOS 11 – with Microphone & iPhone/iPad Audio

Screen recording in iOS 11 on the iPhone and iPad has been a great addition and the ability to record both the audio from your apps and your microphone makes it even better.

However, when you record both audio sources, the resulting video file separates the audio on to two separate tracks, which video editing software like iMovie and even more advanced editors like LumaFusion will not support.

The solution? Take a second screen recording of your screen recording! This sounds strange, but…

  1. Hello There Pete, hope you are well! I just wanna ask you if there is any way to record the sound from the iPad as well as the microphone audio. Ps. I’m not saying anything but has something happened to your eye?Don’t need to answer..I’m just worried for you!

  2. Please help
    The problem I have is
When I start the screen recording it record just fine but when I go back to watch what I recorded the audio will be there only for a minute or 2 and then it’s gone from the entire recording. Could u please help ?!

  3. Thank you! This works but there is one problem, when I’ve posted it onto YouTube, the picture quality is sooo bad. Any ideas how I can prevent that?

  4. Just some random thoughts on this topic. That's all fine and well but your getting the signal as mono, not stereo. The only other workaround is to use something like the AV adapter to say a Mac and have Quicktime render a video of the sound from the app (stereo) and screen record that way. Or, you could use AirServer and let obs record the screen. I tried this with mixed results. Otherwise I'm getting a Mac mini $600 CND and I'll use the Quicktime to record Garage band, even Apple TV. If in i0s 11 you don't mind mono no crime no foul. Unfortunately marzipan is just a rumor.
