  1. Video Cassette Recorders (VCRS) were the only way to record shows back in the 1990s. Resolution and picture quality was garbage but it was OK because everybody had the same thing so nobody cared. Not like today with 720, 1080, 4K and soon 8K.

Anyways the VCRs has this thing called the tracking control which was a manual adjustment that moved the pickup heads on the video tape to line up with the stripes of recorded material. You kind of played with it pushing it too far one way then too far the next until you kind of figured out where the Sweet Spot was and the picture would be as good as possible. If the tracking was off part of the picture at the top or the bottom would go to hell, and that's exactly what you see here at the bottom for this entire video. It also could just be that the bottom edge of the video tape is damaged perhaps stretched.

TV shows and movies sure look great these days but it feels like you need a whole lot more hardware and you have so many options to choose from that it kind of takes the fun out of it compared to back when you just plugged the cable into the back of your freaking vcr and ran a cable to the TV and that was about as good as it was going to get.
