Sony Xperia 1 II vs iPhone 11 Pro – I've Made My Decision! Do You Agree?

Sony Xperia 1 II is my phone of the year so far, but I have never compared it with Apple’s latest and greatest – until now. The iPhone 11 Pro is a an excellent phone, and taking into account the different operating systems and ecosystems, I want to find out which on is the best daily for me. I now know, having lived with these two amazing phones, which one I´d buy. The team and I here at BTEKT have also introduced a new scoring system to help us rank these two phones.

Ultimately though…

  1. Another suggestion but didn't want to mix it in with format suggestion comment.

The biggest selling point it seems from Sony is the fast auto focus and tracking of moving objects. Yet all reviews I see online are of people standing there or landscapes. I'd love to see a side by side camera battle(Sony,Samsung,Apple,Pixel) of capturing pictures of fast moving objects and focus quality. Thanks

  2. Another good video but i hope you don't mind my simple opinion. I'm sure many will disagree and of course not telling you what to do. Just my humble opinion I'm offering because I see great potential here.

    1) Side by side comparison. You do it sometimes, but other times you do one pic then switch to another. I know I like to crank the res up, pause the video and look back and forth between multiple pictures at once. Best way to compare is side by side.

    2) Can you get a tripod for the camera please? I don't know if you are aiming for vlog roam or hip cool movie non steady cam but your camera is constantly moving. It's like a camera man is walking around purposely gliding up and down and walking around because it's either stylish or waaay too windy on the roof top. Lol. A nice steady shot looks better.

Again just my opinion. Still love the content, just the presentation is not what I personally feel looks good.

  3. Another great video Tom, and you know I love the Xperia 1 ii (almost) as much as you. I must admit that the regular sized 11 pro is the ideal size for me as I do a lot of running/outdoor stuff so it's great to have a portable powerhouse.

I think all things considered, the security on iOS is better, especially as without jailbreaking, you can't easily install rogue apps on iphones. I much prefer the fingerprint sensor on the 1 ii though, during these mask wearing COVID blighted times.

Overall, the Xperia 1 ii is my favourite Android phone of 2020 so far….I love the old school features like the headphone jack and the squared off display with no punch hole or notch. Here's hoping that the 5 ii is another great offering. I'll be covering it on my channel as soon as I can get one!

Keep up the great work, best wishes from the UK! Hari

  4. Thanks for another excellent, but objective, review. I agree, the Sony Xperia 1 II is just an amazing smartphone. But I would say that Sony wins on the camera part as well, fantastic, natural colours. The display with a billion colours is just amazing too.

  5. Very great videos Tom, I learned something new things about Iphone today too, that's privacy point of view is interesting because to my mind Apple was somehow superior ( remember the case they turned down the FBI request to access the phone), Like you i still think apple somehow is better than Android on the "security" segment, and the reason is because their level of intergration between their software and hardware, hoping android OEM can do the same thing in the future.

  6. You said it near the end of your video Eco-System and 1 word on that is iMessage.. I have both the Sony X1 Mk2 and iPhone 11 Pro Max and love the look and feel of both handsets (as you say) who wouldn’t. However with most of my Family in the Apple Eco-System and all of my friends on IOS, I ride a fine line and can not choose for fear of alienating one group. However for transparency sake I must admit I find it more practical to use my Pro Max as my daily driver. Great review and also enjoyed your Sony 1 Mk2 v Samsung 20 Ultra video. Keep up the good work 👍

  7. I like the concept "Respect for Content' where #SonyXperia devices shine with 21:9 ratio and no notch display. Your reviews making the world realise how #Xperia1ii is unique & it's not competing with other phones for so called "Limelight" or "Market Share". I really pray that they add back their classics apps like "Album" "Walkman" "Xperia Lounge" etc to give that "true Sony" feel ❤️ #SonyMobile #Btekt

  8. You missed some imp thing of 11 pro
    * 11 pro has better build quality because of strong stainless steel
    * iphone uses nvme storage that is way faster than usfs in android
    * 11 pro has the highest water resistant up to 4 meters
*iphone has better dynamic range in both wide and ultra wide
*iphone also clear advantage in video recording because of better extended dynamic range in videos and also iphone all lens can do 4k ,24,30,or 60 fps als 1080p 60 fps with extended dynamic rangre ,support, wide ,telephoto and ultra wide ,and front cam, xperia dosent supports
    * also 11 pro can switch btw lens while shooting xperia dosent supports..
    * better dynamic range and highlights details in both wide and ultra wide
    *better front cam
    * Xperia still dosent have any dedicated night mode, iphone simply has also has 30 sec long exposure shot that captures way more light and details ….
*A13 is still ahed in raw power
    * also i phone has dolby vision support which is better than hdr 10 and 10 plus 10 bit compared to dolby vision 12 bit colour support…i think xperia dosent support that fotmat
    *longer software support
    * finger print resistant matt glass

  9. Considering all pros and cons, I'd still choose iPhone 11 Pro. By the way despite having lower screen resolution, iPhone's screen looks better and a way brighter at outdoor conditions which is very important. Also 21×9 aspect ratio is not for everyone. I'd say latest Xperias are niche phones, iPhones are for everyone. So comparison is a bit off in this regard. That's for sure. Finally, another one, quite important comparison criteria is missing – resale price. iPhones are ridiculously good at it – even 5 years iPhones aren't cheap whereas the same age Android phones worth nearly nothing. So my choice is obvious :). Sorry Sony. Try harder next time!

  10. Love your style of presenting Tom. Again very honest in your approach and very respectful in the sense that you are making sure not to step on fan boys toes. That's why you are my fave tech channel. Love the scoring system it's excellent!

  11. Boys…i just loved all your reviews..in this case not only very thorough, but you always being so unbiased and truthful to your audiences. You truly are my fav tech reviewer. You deserve a lot more subscribers than the rest of them. Peace out..

  12. Man do I love your videos! Super fair, diplomatic? Yes, but not fence sitting. Just honest real advice from experience. Refreshing. Well done!
But more importantly, your logo, graphics and sounds/music- epic! Haha

  13. Sony is too good. I have had the XZ2 Premium for just over a year and it is intact, perfect, noticeable on the premium quality of this phone just by picking it up, I will not exchange it for anyone other than Sony 😁. After upgrading to android 10, some things bothered me, but nothing much. This Xperia 1ii is sensational in everything, maybe in the future you can buy it because now the price is high … Sony just improving every year. For me, Sony wins! Good video!!!🇧🇷

  14. Yes, I agree about being open minded. Also there is another thing, the Xperia™ 1 II does support expandable storage that in Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max or any model you can never have. It is really a very important and useful feature when it comes to practicality. Great video!

  15. Even listening to the stereo sound of this video on the Xperia 1 II makes it sound incredible (Dolby Atmos -> ON). This Sony has something special that I can't explain about the sound, and it's not about the bass!
I think Sony really impressed with this Mark II, super fast, fantastic screen, incredible battery life, sound and the camera is the cherry on the top of the cake.
The front camera is not the strong point, personally I think is more than enough and for those looking for the best quality in selfie, Sony is ahead of the competition because it is easy to use the shutter button with the rear cameras, so we take advantage of the maximum quality and the incredible fast and perfect focus on the person's face, nobody is talking about it on the internet, it's simply a smart move!
    cheers

  16. Another well made review, thank you! You've helped convert me to full-time RAW shooting on the Sony, by the way! 😉 I fully agree with your comparative analysis of privacy features. Snowden explained it well: the minute you are connected to a network, you are for all intents and purposes broadcasting your life!

  17. One think that just only xperia users know ,but in fact is a big deal , I'm talking about long term performance, the battery doesn't halve over time nether the performance but I feel like the do reduce the camera quality over updates so you get the new one, I'm judging from my experience with xperia z1 and z5 and by the way each one lastest with me for 4-5 years and they're still working fine z1 is damaged broken now but z5 is still working as a daily driver ,but i decided to get a new one xperia 5, I keep my phone for long term bcuz each one I get i feel a relationship with it and I don't want to get rid of it, unless another smartphone impresses me

  18. I'm glad you choose the Sony, Since Sony came back I've been back and forth between Apple and Sony now I own a iPhone 7plus and an Xperia xz as secondary phone, but I'm thinking to switch back to Sony sometimes soon maybe with the 5II or the 1 II still don't know yet
