Why Apple Wants Your Old iPhone

Apple has heavily promoted their trade-in program in recent years, encouraging users to give up their old iPhone in exchange for a discount on a new model. Over a third of Apple Store customers now utilize this program, but it’s left many people wondering why Apple even wants our old iPhones. Which is what I’ll explain in this video.

  1. You’ll find the buying websites will offer more then claim multiple defects and knock the price down. Plus apple is hassle free.
I sold my 8 plus to someone on eBay, he claimed the speakers were broken when they weren’t, eBay took buyers side as they do, so I lost postage both ways and he ruined the cable as more “evidence” despite it being fine when I sent it. So that cost me money to do. Went to a selling website to avoid that again and they offered (to pluck a figure) 350, after they received it they offered 250 claiming it needed a new battery. I haggled back up to 300 claiming if it did I’d do it as apple only charged £50, just took 300 to get rid of it at that point.
When I sold my XS Max I went straight to apple trade in, took the monthly costs down rather than a cash payout. Yes it was less than the other websites were offering but they actually paid that rather than claiming bullshit defects and knocking it down to what would be the apple price anyway 🤷‍♂️
If you get a decent buyer on eBay or alike that’s probably the best you can do. But I’d use apple over a scammy phone buying website any day

  2. Hmmmm….. So it’s nothing to do with customers wanting to get rid of their old iPhone without the hassle of eBay? And the new car market (when trade-ins are common) is totally different?

  3. What a lovely video. So simply explained. Not an overly detailed explanation just to drag it until the 10min mark.
He could've easily made a longer video but he just gaves a succinct 2min explanation and I truly appreciate it.
Thank you, you just got a subscriber

  4. Apple rebates are a JOKE! The amount of $ given back is insulting and only possible cause there is no competition that will take back my old iPhone and give me more than Apple. Built-in, intentional, planned unit degradation by Apple should be investigated – like their batteries…. They are using illegal strategies to cause their devices to degrade and break down on a timeline that dupes the customer into thinking that there is some “other” reason for their phone’s increasingly poor performance and eventual breakdown than PLANNED DEGRADATION, OBSOLESCENCE AND BETRAYAL OF THE CUSTOMER. In my opinion.

  5. a pawn shop will give you more money for your iPhone an Apple will – Now that's saying something. Yeah Apple rips you off every chance they get. I love how they disguise their greed as them caring for the environment.
